Hello Night Owls!
I am here again for a brand-new thing: Creating a Public Service Announcement (PSA). PSAs are announcements to provide information to the public. My friends Nur Çögen and Eray Sezer and I did a PSA because we thought that we should raise awareness about light pollution. To make our PSA more attention-grabbing, we used a very different example of it: roosters. Some animals one of which is roosters, greatly suffer from light pollution, and it devastates the way of their living. To make our PSA, we first did a brainstorming which helped us to create a general idea of it. Then we did a script for it, which was I think the hardest part because attempting to give your idea shortly and efficiently was not an easy thing to do. Then, we did the video for it. At first, we tried to use Prezi, however, we couldn’t manage it since the fact that we weren’t used to it and we had a limited amount of time, so we used PowerPoint which had a rather basic interface. Lastly, we recorded our voices but this time trying to keep up with synchronization was so hard that we did it like at least ten times. In the end, the product was pretty satisfying, and doing something for nature made me feel great. As a teacher candidate, I would exactly offer this to my students, but of course, it would be unfair to make them all those things on their own. Therefore, I would give them some basic options and easy-to-understand instructions. It would contribute not only to their creativity and technology skills but also research and problem-solving skills. You can click here to watch our PSA, don’t forget to share your comments about it!
